We also have the expertise to design and fabricate bespoke engineered steel products built to individual client specifications including above ground oil separators and vortex flow regulators.

Interceptor Alarm Systems

IWS is the sole UK distributor of Hydrocarbon Alarm Systems by German manufacturer Pepperl & Fuchs. P&F are respected market leaders in the field of barrier systems and ATEX approved products.(Datasheet)

Interceptors are potentially explosive areas and classified as zone 0. As such only ATEX certified products may be used.

Environment Agency Requirements

Following the introduction of Pollution Prevention Guideline PPG03 it is now a requirement to install a hydrocarbon alarm system with any new petrol interceptor installation. For further details download a copy of PPG03.

Vortex Flow Controls

Vortex flow controls provide a means of limiting the out flow of water from a surface water drainage system in order to prevent exceeding discharge permissions granted by water authorities. Each unit is sized to suit an individual project depending on the discharge rate required and the head and volume calculations. It is possible that more water will accumulate from the surface area than can be discharged at any time and an attenuation system may also be required in conjunction with he flow control.

Attenuation Systems

Attenuation Systems are for the temporary storage of water to allow controlled flows to be released to surface water drainage systems when discharge limits are specified by water authorities.

IWS can calculate the storage volumes required and provide competitive pricing for both the supply and installation of these systems. There are a number of choices for water storage including plastic cells, GRP tanks and corrugated steel tanks. We can help to decide the most suitable product for your particular application.

Plate Pack System

Plate pack oil separators are utilised in a variety of industrial operations including Airports, Power Stations, Chemical Plants and Major Manufacturing Sites. Designed to handle extremely high volumes of water per hour they are important assets in the fight against pollution. Most systems will have been designed to suit a particular operation, and after many years of service the site use often changes and it is possible that the original design becomes out dated.

IWS can replace old collapsed GRP oil separator packs with robust stainless steel units. Still utilising GRP plates within the housing because of the highly oleophillic nature of the material. If you have a GRP plate pack system which is over 10 years old this should be drained and inspected for corrosion. Once the GRP framework becomes weak the whole pack will collapse rendering the oil separator useless.

We will review your existing separator and recommend any necessary upgrades to ensure that it is suitable for the products being processed.
